2011 was a cool summer with some wet weather during harvest which made it difficult for us, but we were able to still make a solid Cabernet from Monterey County. We did not have to deal with any major issues with the fruit going bad on the vine so we were able to let the Cab hang on the vine to make sure the fruit was at the right ripeness. It was a really strong year for our Merlot so we had to put 7% in this blend. It has been years since the Merlot was this high quality which is why for the first time in years it is a large portion of this blend. The Merlot gives this wine another dimension and strengthens the already good mouth feel and finish.
