A slightly cool early spring gave way to excellent growing conditions from late May through September with plenty of heat and sun and timely rainstorms. We reached October thinking 2005 would be the greatest vintage in Long Island history... but them came 10 straight days of heavy rain. Fortunately for sparkling wine production, all fruit was harvested early September and the resulting wines show excellent ripeness and balance.
